Freda's Peanut Butter

A love of peanut butter and a trip to New Zealand in a camper van called Freda were the inspiration behind the development of this unbelievably tasty brand. Uniquely flavoured, deeply roasted with natural ingredients and the perfect crunch- this is peanut butter, but better!

Our Task

We came into the business as consultants and marketers.

Our aim was to establish a PPC, SEO and Social Media strategy to scale the sales on a D2C website enabling the brand to invest in trade shows to scale B2B sales.

Freda’s is a great example of our dedication to being a partner with a brand, not just a fair weather agency. We started the project in early 2023 and security issues came to light in their analytics and technology stack. This pushed our program back, and caused a disappointing ROI in the first 3-months of the project.

We offered 3-months of free work to rectify the issue and get them back on track. The result is a strong ROI of 12:1 on digital for the brand, up from 3:1 before we started working with them.

"Working with Freda's has been a prime example of how best laid plans don't always work straight away. We initially approached Freda's as we believed they had a strong market opportunity to leverage with their Ecommerce store.

Upon launching the campaign we quickly realised our projections didn't account for challenges in the existing WordPress website reducing conversion rates more than we had seen in research. This prompted us having a tough conversation with Lisa and Andrew about what success looked like. We knew that the project needed to return a certain level of revenue to be viable to scale the business online. It wasn't delivering that initially.

Because we approached Freda's, and still believed they could succeed, we offered 3-months of pro-bono time to optimise the website. Following this time, the campaign flourished to where it is today delivering very strong returns on digital marketing. This has enabled investment in subscriptions, a Shopify migration and much more which fills us with joy. We get that we have to support scaling businesses to grow and sometimes that means make tough decisions on our part to support our client partners to win."

Our Solution

After a full analysis of the Freda’s website and D2C strategy we devised a social media testimonial and influencer outreach program, PPC and SEO optimisation program and an email automation and ecommerce customer experience optimisation program.

All the above strategies culminated in December 2023, where we up-weighted our campaign with consistent gains across PPC.

This has allowed the brand to have a regular, scaling income stream that now sees them exploring Amazon as a more prominent sales channel, and sees them scaling their B2B business rapidly in 2024.
